This<br \/>\nis what Wikipedia has to say about it: <\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\n<i>Published in two parts, in 1605 and 1615,&nbsp;Don<br \/>\nQuixote&nbsp;is the most influential work of literature from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spanish_Golden_Age\" title=\"Spanish Golden Age\">Spanish Golden Age<\/a>&nbsp;and the entire Spanish<br \/>\nliterary canon. As a founding work of modern&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Western_literature\" title=\"Western literature\">Western literature<\/a>, it regularly appears high on<br \/>\nlists of the greatest works of fiction ever published, such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bokklubben_World_Library\" title=\"Bokklubben World Library\">Bokklubben World Library<\/a> collection that<br \/>\ncites&nbsp;Don Quixote&nbsp;as the authors&#8217; choice for the &#8220;best literary<br \/>\nwork ever written&#8221;.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\nNeedless to say, no one in my family has read it, not<br \/>\neven Aryk, the writer and English Literature major. This is what Wikipedia says<br \/>\nit is about:<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\n<i>The story follows the adventures of a noble (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hidalgo_(nobility)\" title=\"Hidalgo (nobility)\">hidalgo<\/a>) named Alonso Quixano who reads so<br \/>\nmany&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chivalric_romance\" title=\"Chivalric romance\">chivalric romances<\/a>&nbsp;that he loses his sanity<br \/>\nand decides to become a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Knight-errant\" title=\"Knight-errant\">knight-errant<\/a>&nbsp;(caballero<br \/>\nandante), reviving&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chivalry\" title=\"Chivalry\">chivalry<\/a>&nbsp;and serving his country, under the name&nbsp;Don<br \/>\nQuixote de la Mancha. He recruits a simple farmer,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sancho_Panza\" title=\"Sancho Panza\">Sancho<br \/>\nPanza<\/a>, as his squire, who often employs a unique, earthy wit in dealing<br \/>\nwith Don Quixote&#8217;s rhetorical orations on antiquated&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Knighthood\" title=\"Knighthood\">knighthood<\/a>.<br \/>\nDon Quixote, in the first part of the book, does not see the world for what it<br \/>\nis and prefers to imagine that he is living out a knightly story.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\nDon Quixote and My Mother<\/h3>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\nMy late mother\u2019s favorite musical was <i><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Man_of_La_Mancha\"><b>The Man of La Mancha<\/b><\/a><\/i>, a 1965 musical about Don Quixote. She would have really enjoyed this museum. If you have ever heard the song The Impossible Dream, you should know it comes from this musical. (I realize this is irrelevant, but I had to share it anyway.)&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\nThe museum, located a couple of blocks off the main<br \/>\nsquare, was founded in 1987 by the collector <a href=\"http:\/\/fundacioncervantina.org\/index.php\/quienes-somos\/biografia-eulalio-ferrer\"><b>Eulalio Ferrer Rodr\u00edguez<\/b><\/a>, a former<br \/>\ncaptain in the Spanish Civil War who, legend has it, traded a pack of cigarettes<br \/>\nfor the book <i>Don Quixote<\/i>, and the book helped keep him<br \/>\nsane and captured his imagination during the time he spent in a refugee camp in<br \/>\nFrance. It\u2019s situated in what was<br \/>\nprobably the mansion of a mine-owner, and it houses in 16 rooms a striking collection<br \/>\nof different types of pieces by different artists whose theme revolves around<br \/>\nthe figure of Don Quixote and the rest of the characters in the novel. There<br \/>\nare bronze sculptures, surreal paintings, sketches, multimedia pieces and more!\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\nHere are a few of my favorites.<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;
